Abel VILLARD (French, 1871-1969) La Viaduc. Unsigned. 15 X 22 in., frame 18 1/2 X 25 1/2 in. Like his father Jean-Marie Villard, Abel teaches the drawing. Friend and raises Desired-Lucas Louis-Marie, it works, like him, " on the motif" and transports it with its car in the surroundings of Douarnenez. Thus we find in their respective production much of tables representing the same point of view. With Quimper, it founds the free municipal artistic courses and creates the Artistic Union, then in 1946, the school of the Art schools. In 1967, it receives the Legion of honor in reward of its cultural activities. His/her son Robert (known as Robert-Paulo) also launches out him in painting. Eclectic and undertaking, he is the creator, in Quimper always, of the Villard jam factory, known in all France! He is the brother of the writer Rene Villard.
