9.5" x 6.0", bound pamphlet, 14 pages. A few frayed edges on the right hand side. Delivered to the United States Senate. Mr. Everett states: "What reference to the great question to slavery- that terrible question- the only one on which the North and the South of this great republic differ irreconcilable- I have not, on this occasion, a word to say... I believe the union of these States is the greatest possible blessing- that is comprises with itself all other blessings, political, national, and social.... I doubt not that in His own good time the Ruler of all will vindicate the most glorious of His prerogatives".
