Three Early Government Pamphlets.
A group of three pamphlets, two being a "Message From The President of the United States," and one a "Letter From The Secretary of War"; all are 8.5" x 5.75", Very Fine. An 8-page pamphlet from 1819 requests copies of correspondence between Andrew Jackson and the Department of War and the Governor of Georgia relative to a court-martial against Captain Wright for the destruction of a Chehaw Indian village; a 10-page pamphlet from 1828 transmits the opinion of the Attorney General "upon the construction of the Award of the Emperor of Russia Under the Treaty of Ghent..."; and a 10-page pamphlet from 1828 contains a letter from the Secretary of War detailing costs and topographical elements of a proposed "Chesapeake and Ohio Canal to Alexandria in the District of Columbia."
