Federal Period Wooden Canteen with Stamped Name: "J. GAMBER"

c. 1830, Wooden Canteen with Stamped Name: "J. GAMBER", Choice Fine.
Oval wooden canteen, held together with metal hoops, and absent wooden plug or cork. Canteen is 7" in diameter, 3" thick, with original blue/green paint, and original woven cotton carrying strap--toned tan brown. On one side is the name of the previous owner: "J.GAMBER." Paint is aged and faded in places. Metal hoops with original rust-brown patina. Overall a lovely aged early wooden canteen!
