Description:

This lovely and brightly colored piece serves as a breath of fresh air amidst Miró’s œuvre of surrealist, abstract works.  The ‘pyramid’ in the composition acts as its main anchor, detailed in a brilliant sky blue and adds to the effect of a three-dimensional, all-encompassing image.  We can almost make out the shape of a dove, with a darker blue boddess and green wings, accented with areas of bright red scattered throughout.  It is indeed a whimsical and very feminine work that stands apart from Miró’s other prints that are based after original oils.

Created in 1954, this original color etching and aquatint is based on an original oil on fragment of fibro-cement by Joan Miró in 1952.  The print is numbered 158/300 in pencil in the lower left margin and hand signed by Joan Miró (1893 – 1983) in pencil in the lower right margin.  Also signed by Miró in black in the plate in the lower right.  Printed on BFK Rives watermarked paper.
