Two Revolutionary War Pay Authorizations to Treasurer Henry Gardner, Very Good.
1. To Henry Gardner, Massachusetts Treasurer, from Calvin Smith, authorizing Benjamin Heywood to collect "the Ballance due to me on account of the Depreciation of the Currency...," measuring 6.25" x 7.5", Fine except for several ink smudges and soiling. Signed on back by Seth Washburn. 2. To Henry Gardner, Treasurer, from Joseph Ayer, authorizing Jonathan Webster to collect "my notes that may be found due to me as a solder in the three year served in the Connental armey..." Signed on back by Jonathan Webster, document measures 3.25" x 4.25". Untidily and lightly written, couple of ink smudges and one small hole. (2 pieces)
