January 1, 1777 Manuscript Receipt from Jonathan Trumbel as Paymaster General of the "Continantal Army," Springfield, MA, Fine. This Manuscript Receipt is Signed "Benj Pollard Let." in brown ink on fine-laid paper, for thirty pounds "Equal to one Hundred Dollars" received of "Jonathan Trumbel Esq. Paymaster genl. to ye Continantal army by ye Hand of major Abner Cranston...." Toned and foxed along the folds, with tiny holes and edge chips, but the manuscript is legible.
