Masthead Engraving From a Paul Revere Styled Woodcut Newspapers dated November 2, 1780 and November 12, 1798, THE INDEPENDENT CHRONICLE AND THE UNIVERSAL ADVERTISER, Boston, Massachusetts. Both Very Fine or better. Masthead engraving taken after a Paul Revere design and styled woodcut which resembles the 1775 Massachusetts "Minuteman" displayed on his famous Colonial Currency "Sword in Hand" notes produced for the Treasury of the State. This issue focused on Massachusetts and the setting up of the legislature and all of its branches. All of the position, titles and the names of the people holding them are listed, as well as all of the Representatives for each county. This, at a time when John Hancock was the Governor. Domestically, the latter issue describes new resolutions and laws legislated in Mass. Late foreign news discusses the "Treaty of Alliance" between the French and Helvetic Republics. (2 newpapers).
