Post-Revolutionary War to Civil War
Four Historic Early American "Orations" (DANIEL WEBSTER, EDWARD EVERETT and CHARLES SPRAGUE). This brown, leather-bound book contains four original printings of orations delivered between 1820 and 1825. It measures 8.5" x 5.25", and is missing its front cover. It features marbled endpapers, quarter calf covers, some light internal foxing, and the contents are quite sound. Included in the book are the following: 1. Daniel Webster, titled, "DISCOURSE, DELIVERED AT PLYMOUTH, DECEMBER 22, 1820, IN COMMEMORATION OF THE FIRST SETTLEMENT OF NEW-ENGLAND", printed in Boston, 1821 by Wells and Lilly, 104 pages. 2. Edward Everett, titled, "ORATION DELIVERED AT PLYMOUTH, DECEMBER 22, 1824", printed in Boston, 1825 by Cummings, Hilliard & Co., 73 pages. 3. Daniel Webster, titled, "AN ADDRESS DELIVERED AT THE LAYING OF THE CORNER STONE OF THE BUNKER HILL MONUMENT", printed in Boston, 1825 by Cummings, Hilliard & Co., 40 pages. 4. Charles Sprague, titled, "AN ORATION, DELIVERED ON MONDAY, FOURTH OF JULY, 1825, IN COMMEMORATION OF AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE", printed in BOSTON, 1825 by True and Green, 31 pages.
