(JAMES WILLIAM DENVER), Mexican War Captain, Commander in Army of the Tennessee, for whom the city of Denver, Colorado is named.
Autograph Letter Signed, "A. Si. C. Denver" (likely a family member?) addressed to Hon J. W. Denver, while he was a State Representative in Congress, February 3, 1857, Sacramento City, CA, 10" x 7.75," Very Fine. A short letter recommending a judicial appointment, "...if services in the cause of the party entitles one to reward, he certainly deserves..." Includes the letter and transmittal envelope.
