Scarce Three Cent "Burnett's Cocoaine"

EP-39, HB-74, S-45, 3¢, BURNETT'S COCOAINE KALLISTON, Choice Very Fine.
Rated a Rarity-6 (16 to 20 known) according to Fred Reed. A scarce and desirable Merchant type,the stamp being well centered and bold red, but the mica having some light overall craze and a very small piece missing at Washington's forehead. The case itself is Extremely Fine and quite lovely, being a vibrant golden-chestnut with underlying luster and having excellent eye appeal. An affordable example.
