Brown's Bronchial Troches 4¢ U.S. Internal Revenue Stamp, Gem Proof on Card.
Scott RS41P4. Printed in brown ink on card stock. Exceptionally deep embossing, more easily felt than seen. Regular versions of this stamp were used to tax the products of John I. Brown of Boston, Massachusetts, the most important of which (at least in the minds of EP collectors) was their Bronchial Troches. This wonderful and fascinating stamp reminds us that the Internal Revernue Service has been with us for a long, long time!
