I am afraid it would not have been so if any member of thed Council had ever heard me make a speech. The fact is that I am very dull, nervous, and prolix when I am on my legs; also, in a large room very inaudible. However, if the Council still be, after this frank and true statement of my drawbacks, anxious that I should make a speech, I shall have very great pleasure in obliging them"; and 8 other letters, including 2 from Hall Caine, 4 from Marie Corelli, 1 from W.E. Henley and 1 from E.T. Cook, 8vo(9)
