Baden Powell (Robert S.S., first Baron, soldier and founder of the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides, 1857-1941) 1 Autograph Letter to "My Dear Young Scouts and Scoutess" [Desmond Harmsworth and his brother and sister] & 1 Autograph Letter signed to Cecil Harmsworth, 3½pp. & envelopes, sm. 4to, Princes Gate [London] & The Boy Scouts Association headed paper, 11th December 1911 & 4th October 1914, [first letter], "I heard from your father tonight how good you were as young scouts. I hope you will go on being good and then someday I will come and see you and he will learn to track animals and birds by their footmarks", [second letter], thanking Cecil Harmsworth for a donation of £100 to the Boy Scouts "With your permission I propose to devote the whole hundred pounds to the fund which we are raising to supply winter clothing to the 1500 Sea Scouts who are replacing the Coastguards on the East Coast"; and 2 others, a receipt from Baden-Powell and a note by Cecil Harmsworth, "I was present at a dinner on the 18th Decr. 1911 & sat next to Baden Powell. I told him all about the childrens interest in Boy Scouts. (They had little outfits from Gamages or Hamleys & I was to take them up to Hampstead Heath for scouting, in which they delighted) Baden Powell sat down the same evening & wrote this letter...
