Harmsworth (Desmond) Autograph Letter signed to his father, 5pp. & envelope, 8vo, The Hours Press notepaper, Paris, 18th May 1931, "About the publishing business: I have been pretty business with authors and manuscripts since I have been back and have already done some good things... . An addition to my pamphlet series, and an exceedingly good addition, by Ezra Pound, one of the chief American poets, critics, scholars etc. (This I have definitely asked for). The offer of another pamphlet - but this one more doubtful - a translation of a work by Jean Cocteau who is by far the liveliest of the French writers (it was his novel I started to translate but abandoned when I discovered that someone else had the contract). Ezra Pound's collected prose, which is important & would be a big undertaking is available if I want it... . Also, I still hope for (as a pamphlet) a slice of James Joyce's famous Work in Progress, but cannot reach him at present as he is in London & I must see him personally", folds; and others, literary including: mentioning Ford Madox Ford and Georges Simenon, many relating to Harmsworth's portraits, including Havelock Ellis and his father, press notices of Harmsworth's pictures at the Royal Academy etc., v.s., v.d.(sm. qty)ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
