portrait head, the figure 7 added lower left, with an arrow pointing to the sitter's cheek, alluding to a quote from Joyce, inscribed in the artist's hand on the outer mount, 'I'd like to have seven tongues, Mrs. Harmsworth, and put them all in my cheek at once', pen and black ink drawing on translucent draftsman's paper, 310 x 220mm., signed lower right, hinged into mount, the support sheet inscribed 'Owned by Dorothy Harmsworth, Given by her husband', slight creasing and browning.
