***Archibald Clark Kerr (1882-1951) was a long-serving British diplomat, being appointed Ambassador to China in the 1930s, then to Russia during WWII, followed by being sent to the United States in 1946, when he was created Baron Inverchapel. His death in the early 1950s was said to have been hastened by his deep distress and disillusionment following the defection of the spies Burgess and Maclean with whom he had worked and was associated..
