[with] a list of the original subscribers towards building the public rooms..., subcriber's copy with signature of Lord Aldborough at head of title and his engraved season ticket at end, 10 further engraved plates and plans, 1 folding, 2 printed in brown, pp.31-34 & 77-80 folding tables, stubs of previous tickets at end, occasional light soiling, old bookplate of James Fuller FSA on front pastedown, contemporary tree calf, gilt, rubbed, upper joint cracked, spine chipped at head, 12mo, [Dublin], [1788].***Edward Stratford, second Earl of Aldborough (d.1801). He "was widely known for his ability and eccentricity, which caused him to be termed the 'Irish Stanhope.' He was an ardent whig, and was elected member for Taunton to the British parliament in 1774, but was unseated with his colleague, Nathaniel Webb, on petition, on 16 March 1775, for bribery and corrupt practices... . He built Stratford Place and Aldborough House in London, and in Ireland he founded the town of Stratford-upon-Slaney, besides greatly improving the borough of Baltinglass.
