***An outstanding collection of unpublished documents relating to Portugese notaries drawn up by the public notary of the City of Lisbon. Drawn up by Royal Order in 1505 in order to "avoid future demands and collusions", and comprising four centuries of the legal system in Portugal. Identifies the original title-holders and successors of the public notary, and consitutes the annals of the corporation, drawing up laws, regulations, provisions and agreements for four centuries. An immense source for the history of Portugese notaries, especially the legislative history of the reign of King Manuel I, especially in conjunction with the creation and validity of the Ordinances..
