photograph album recording activities at the substantial Portuguese mission in the inland province of Huilla, 50 albumen prints, each c.125 x 210mm., 5 x 8 1/4in., mounted on single side of card leaves with gilt borders, printed captions variously dated 1886-1891 pasted below, printed dedication leaf to Fernando d'Almeida Pedroso dated 1892 mounted inside front free endpaper, contemporary green morocco, wide gilt border and title (as above) on upper cover, oblong 4to, Huilla, Typographia da Missao, 1892.

***Includes group portraits of staff and students, workshops (printing, shoemaking, carpentry etc), physics laboratory, pharmacy, library, kitchen, views of other missions, villages and landscapes and five groups of native Angolans. The letterpress was printed at the Mission and almost certainly the photographs as well; an atelier de photographia showing several cameras is included. .
