ABRAMOV, Al. Schepki rezinki zhest [Wooden Chips, Rubber Bands and Tin-Plate].
Moscow: Molodaya Gvardiya, 1931. 32 pp., 8vo (170 x 120 mm). Illustrated by Konstantin Vasilievich Kuznetsov. Original two-color decorated wrappers designed by Kuznetzov. Condition: wrappers lightly discolored, back wrapper with old diagonal crease and small tear at lower corner. A children's propaganda book that contains instructions on how to build cars, trucks and tanks from wood, rubber bands and metal scraps. Kuznetsov (1886-1943) was a prolific children's book illustrator in the Constructivist tradition. [With:] KORSHUNOV, Ivan. Detmashstrom [Child-machine-building]. [Leningrad]: OGIZ, 1931. 16 pp., (125 x 172 mm). Color lithographs after L. Kapustin Original color lithographed self-wrappers designed by Kapusin. Condition: light smudging to wrappers, small ink stamps to recto and verso of front wrapper. The text and Constructivist pictures demonstrate how Soviet boys and girls can create all kinds of toys from everyday materials. It includes some underlying propaganda in how to build a child's own Dnepr Dam as well as a movie camera to show agit-prop films. (2)
