KUZNETSOV, Pavel Varfolomevich (1878-1968). Gornaya Bukhara [Mountainous Bukhara]. [Moscow: GIZ, 1923.] Suite of 12 colored and numbered autolithographs + frontispiece plate, title plate, preface plate with text on recto and contents on verso, and one unnumbered preliminary plate (each 403 x 298 mm). In original decoratively printed paper folding portfolio. Condition: plates with slight dampstaining to extreme lower left corners; portfolio with extensive restorations to verso at folds and edges. These stylized but brilliantly colored lithographs combine folk art with Cubist elements. They also demonstrate the artist's deep affection for the people and culture of the Bukhara Province in Uzbekistan. The artist includes a preface, dated March 3, 1923. One of 2000 copies.
