Bolshakov was a Russian Futurist poet who was strongly influenced by Vladimir Mayakovsky's urban poetry. He dedicated poems in this collection to Mikhail Kuzmin (pp. 30 and 54-55); Lissitzky (p. 35); Lilya Brik (p. 38); Mayakovsky (pp. 48 and 57-58); Boris Pasternak (pp. 55-56); Vladimir Khodasevich (pp. 56-57); Valerei Briusov (pp. 58-59); and Kuzmin's lover, Iurii Iurkyn (p. 59).
