Final blank. 65 illustrations on 45 pp. Original thin card wrappers, pictorial dust-jacket printed in red and black to a design by El Lissitzky. Condition: some light soiling; wrappers browned and slightly creased, dust-jacket creased and with neat repairs to extremities and spine, the spine with careful manuscript facsimile work; previous owner's signature on title page. first edition in the original dust jacket designed by lissitzky. One of 1000 copies. A compilation of students' architectural projects from the famous art and technical school founded in 1920 where Lissitzky taught. It became one of the leading centers of modern art in the world. The cover shows lettering printed over a photograph of Lissitzky's hand holding a compass suggesting a graphic correlation with his earlier reflexive proclamation, "Architecture is the measure of architecture" (Compton, 1992, pp. 90 and 134). Lissitzky had first trained as an architect. MoMA 702; Hellyer 11.
