MALEVICH, Kazimir Severinovich (1878-1935). Bog ne skinut. Iskusstvo, tserkov, fabrika [God is Not Overthrown: Art, Church, Factory].
[Vitebsk: UNOVIS],1922. 40 pp., small 8vo (170 x 110 mm). Original wrappers. Condition: some spotting to front wrapper with minor chipping to corner, minor rubbing to backstrip; light chipping with minimal loss to upper back wrapper and a few leaves not affecting text. Malevich discussed his aesthetic and philosophical ideas as well as his theories on modern art in a long work entitled Suprematizm I-II while living in Vitebsk. Although the manuscript remained unpublished, he summarized some of his ideas in 1922 in this scarce UNOVIS publication Bog ne skinut. In 1919 Malevich founded UNOVIS ("Utverditeli Novogo Iskusstva" or "Champions of the New Art) with the students the Vitebsk Art School where he was rector. Their focus was on the Suprematist project and they issued a number of publications. Though short lived, its influence on Russian avant-garde art was considerable. One of 2000 copies. Hellyer 362. Not in MoMA.
