Condition: restorations at lower margin and corners where slight loss has occurred not affecting image or text. Often overlooked as politically inconvenient or forgotten in the wake of his soon to appear groundbreaking Suprematist abstractions, Malevich's propaganda lubki of World War I were composed in "a short initial period of patriotic fervor" (Zhadova, Suprematism and Revolution in Russian Art 1910-1930, p. 30), and are a fascinating particularized example of the great Russian avant-gardist's ouevre.
