POLONSKII, Vyacheslav Pavlovich (1886-1932). Russkii Revoliutsionnyi Plakat [Russian Revolutionary Poster].
Moscow: GIZ, 1922. 192 pp., folio (350 x 270 mm). Includes 54 lithographs as well as numerous black and white letterpress reproductions of posters from the revolutionary period in Russia. Publisher's red cloth with decorative black and red covers. Condition: front hinge cracked, slight rubbing and minor abrasions to boards; a few leaves repaired at gutters. an important and beautifully illustrated study of Russian Revolutionary poster design that features many classic and rare examples. This pioneering catalogue features over 850 posters produced between 1917 and 1925, and includes work by the author, Aleksandr Apsit, Viktor Deni, Vladimir Lebedev, El Lissitzky, Ivan Maliutin, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Dmitri Moor, Dmitri Melnikov and others. Polonskii was founder and editor of the Bolshevik journal Press and editor-in-chief of the influential literary magazine Novyi mir [The New World] from 1926 to 1931. MoMA 576.
