Moscow: IZOGIZ, 1932. Collection of eight photographic postcards of a sports parade in Red Square in May 1932. Numbers 27-30, 33-36. (105 x 145 mm). Issued in 10,000 copies each. Condition: unobtrusive erasure marks on verso of each card but never posted. rare unused postcards by the great constructivist photographer. Column on column of Soviet athletes--both men and women--march past the Kremlin and Lenin's Tomb, including tennis players with their rackets raised. Rodchenko was one of the greatest photographers of sports events and profoundly influenced many of his contemporaries including the notorious Nazi propagandist Leni Riefenstahl. Number 98 in the "Moscow" series (105 x 145 mm). One of 25,000 copies. One of the the most famous of Rodchenko's photographs, having been taken in 1929 for the cover of the magazine Radioslushatel.
