RODCHENKO, Aleksandr Mikhailovich (1891-1956) (illustrator) and Vladimir Vladimirovich MAYAKOVSKY (1893-1930). Parizh [Paris]. Moscow: Moskovskii Rabochii, 1925. 40 pp., small 8vo (175 x 130 mm). Original photomontage wrappers designed by Rodchenko in green and black. Condition: repair at fold, small closed tear to lower front wrapper. an exceptional example of one of the many close collaborations between rodchenko and mayakovsky. One of 8000 copies. Poems on such sights as Versailles and Notre Dame that Mayakovsky saw on his infrequent visits to Paris; there is also one about Verlaine and Cézanne. The cover photograph, an aerial view of Paris, suggests a privileged point of view that is much different from Lissitzky's later photographic investigation into the City of Lights as seen in Moi Parizh [My Paris], his groundbreaking 1933 photo-essay collaboration with Erenburg.
