SHEVYREV, Stepan Petrovich (1806-1864). Poezdka v Kirillo-Belozerskii monastyr [A Journey to the St. Kirill Belozerskii Monastery]. Moscow: Universitelskaya Tipografiya, 1850. 2 volumes in one, 8vo (239 x 162 mm). 26 lithographic plates (1 folding). Near-contemporary green roan-backed marbled -paper covered boards with cloth tips, the flat spine with oxidized silver fillets and lettering, original upper wrapper to vol.I bound at front, and an original lower wrapper at the end. Condition: old dampstaining, occasional light spotting, small repair to inner blank margins of leaves 9.2 and 9.3 in the second volume; spine and extremities rubbed.. Prof. Shevryrev taught medieval Russian literature at Moscow University and co-published the patriotic journal Moskvityanin [The Muscovite] (1841-1856) with his fellow professor Mikhail Pogodin.
