St. Petersburg: Departmenta Narodnago Prosvescheniya, 1819. 371 pp., 8vo (200 x 130 mm). Publisher's three quarter brown calf over marbled boards, spine lettered in gilt. Condition: spine edges rubbed, gilt oxidized, corners bumped, rear hinge cracked, occasional light toning to preliminaries. an in-depth biography of the legendary russian monarch. As a senator and member of the Russian Academy under Catherine the Great, Sumarokov had access to information unavailable to later biographers. He also wrote a well-illustrated account of his travels through the Crimea. Not in Fekula.
