ZIMIN, Georgii (1900-1985). Still life. ca. 1930s. Silver gelatin print tipped to exhibition paper mount (235 x 157 mm). Zimin studied at the experimental free art schools in Moscow, SVoMAS and later VKhUTEMAS. He experimented with camera-less photography in his photograms in the late 1920s and early 1930s, but by the time he took this photograph he had succumbed to the demands of the state-sponsored Socialist Realism.ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
