Scarce first Official Missile mail cover sent from the guided missile submarine USS Barbero via Regulus I training missile on June 8, 1959. Cover was postmarked after missile arrived at Naval Auxiliary Air Station at Mayport, Fla. Type I envelope with eagle & seal watermark and backflap with rounded corners. This cover is addressed to Rod Kreger, Arlington, VA (these covers were all sent to important members of the government). Contains original letter (and corner card) of Postmaster General Arthur Summerfield. Some toning on reverse, otherwise very fine. Ellington-Zwisler #25C1.
