Folded letter of May 16, 1850, 2½ pages, to a Mr. Butler in response to apparently detailed letter from him in which President writes that he will be happy to talk about his social relationships and political considerations. President writes as if he knows the Butler family. Letter signed at bottom and also signed and dated on back of last page. Multiple folds from envelope mailing. Outside signature unaffected. Inside signature very slightly.
