Possibly a unique item, certainly very rare, a 1925 Negro National League (NNL) St. Louis Stars Championship ring. Made from sterling silver, this ring has a baseball in the center inscribed with a date of 1925, with 'ST LOUIS' and 'STARS' surrounding it on the band. We believe this is a genuine St. Louis Stars second-half Championship ring in 1925. The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum does not deny its authenticity, although they do not have a similar example on hand. In the famous photograph of a seated Rube Foster (an image used on Foster's Perez-Steele postcard) one can see the striking similarity between this ring and the ring on his finger in the photo. Rube Foster was the founder and president of the Negro National League, as well as President of the leading Negro League team of its time, the Chicago American Giants. Also, the St. Louis Stars team, which included future Hall-of-Famers Willie Wells, Mule Suttles and Cool Papa Bell, did in fact win the second-half championship in 1925, the first of several successful Stars teams before the league disbanded in 1931. Foster's ring is likely associated with his own Giants' many championships. We have included pictures of the Foster photo, as well as detailed photos of the ring. Judge for yourself and bid accordingly.
