1928 MULTI-PLAYER SIGNED BALL W/ RUTH, GEHRIG

An incredible find, this OAL (Barnard) baseball signed by several American League players including arguably the greatest baseball player ever, Babe Ruth! The consignor's grandfather would go to St. Louis Browns games at old Sportsman's Park and get autographs of the players, home and away. In reviewing the players who have signed, we can date the ball circa 1928, and they either played for the Yankees, the Browns, Indians, Red Sox or Senators. Ruth is of course on the sweet spot, and his fellow Yankee teammate Lou Gehrig has signed in his usual spot, the East panel. Other HOFers signatures include: Bucky Harris, Heinie Manush and Sam Rice on the 'reverse' sweet spot (Barnard's stamp is barely visible). Also, Joe Sewell, Waite Hoyt, Earle Combs, Goose Goslin and Leo Durocher (who was a rookie in '28) have all signed. Other players on this baseball: Homer Summa, Frank O'Rourke, Pat Collins, Joe Dugan, Bob Meusel, Fred Hofman, Carl Lind, Red Kress, Roger Peckinpaugh (Indians manager), Ira Flagstead, Walter Gerber, Henry Johnson, and four that are illegible. Ruth's signature is quite strong, while Gehrig's is faded. The rest of the signatures vary from strong to faded. We are selling this special baseball at NO RESERVE so bid early and bid often!
