French & Indian War Date, John Bradstreet Grants His Power of Attorney to General Philip Schuyler

JOHN BRADSTREET, French & Indian War Colonial Officer; Hero of Ticonderoga.
May 25, 1764, Manuscript Document Signed, "Jon. Bradstreet," Albany, 12.75" x 8", Very Fine. Bradstreet appoints "Philip J: Schuyler Esqr. of the City of Albany my true and Lawful attorney... I do hereby give & grant to my said attorney my full & whole power... & will ratify & confirm whatsoever he shall Lawfully act or do..." Bradstreet's red wax seal is extant, and a note at bottom left states that the document was sealed and delivered in Schuyler's presence. The docket on the integral attached leaf is later and has a note signed by a descendant of Schuyler's, also with the initials P.J. He states that he found the power of attorney in the late General Schuyler's papers on November 19, 1827. The docket page has scattered staining and fold reinforcement on verso. The power of attorney is boldly signed by Bradstreet, and this page has only light toning and foxing, with some transfer from the wax seal to the top of the page.

Philip Schuyler served under Colonel John Bradstreet in the French and Indian War and the two became lifelong friends.
