Autographs
Vice President Under Ulysses S. Grant SCHUYLER COLFAX, Vice President under Grant 1869-73, Representative from Indiana, Speaker of the House 1863-69, Whig activist and founder of Indiana's Republican Party. Autograph Card Signed and Inscribed, in full: "Autograph for E.C. Jackson, Respy. Yours, Schuyler Colfax, Feb. 9, 1876", in black ink, on a 2" x 3.25" card, Choice Mint. Crisp and bold, a fine example. Colfax (1823-1885), was implicated in the Credit Mobilier of America scandal and was ruined politically despite being completely exonerated. He was also the first officer to preside over both houses of Congress. Early American will accept payment by check or credit card. ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
