George Washington Presents Correspondence to Congress January 15, 1794, Record of Correspondence between the Secretary of State and the Minister Plenipotentiary of the French Republic, Printed by Childs & Swaine, Philadelphia, PA, Very Fine. This 8.25" x 5", 12-page pamphlet is disbound and exhibits some slight foxing; the first page has been detached but features a short introduction signed in print by George Washington, who presented this copy to the Congress. Evans 27920. Ex-Library, American Antiquarian Society ink stamp in top right corner of first page. The pamphlet contains a reproduction of Thomas Jefferson's correspondence with the French Plenipotentiary. A good example of the diplomatic conduct of the early republic.
