c. 1800 British Military Officer's Uniform Gorget (After 1796), British Military Gorget, Gilt Brass, Crowned Initials of King George III, Choice Extremely Fine. This is an original, British Military Gorget, part of an officer's uniform, which is believed to date to after 1796, but before 1830. This gorget measures 3.5" wide by 4.5" long, with a 1.5" space between the 2 arms, and has a brown copper colored interior. Most of the gilding is missing on the body, but traces still remain near the rims. There are 2 tiny cracks on the upper rim, left of the crown, and another on the lower rim, near the center. There are traces of light green patina here and there. The engraved design is clear and bold and quite attractive. A rare type of military relic, which would have been worn by British officers in Canada. Early American will accept payment by check or credit card. ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
