Post-Revolutionary War to Civil War
Recommendation for War with Britain! June 30, 1812, SUPPLEMENT TO THE NEW-HAMPSHIRE PATRIOT", Concord, NH, Very Fine. 19" x 12.75". Uniformly toned, missing the lower right corner, affecting some text of an unrelated correspondence. This single-sided broadside supplement contains a complete printing of "The Manifesto", a resolution of the Committee of Foreign Relations of the United States recommending war with Britain. The recommendation is not obscure, there is no "beating around the bush". Rather, the last line of the Manifesto clearly states: "Relying on the patriotism of the nation, and confidently trusting that the Lord of Hosts will go with us to battle in a righteous cause and crown our efforts with success - your committee recommend an immediate appeal to ARMS". Apparently, this recommendation was so important that it merited this special printing. Early American will accept payment by check or credit card. ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
