Union General Nathaniel Prentice Banks, by L. Prang & Co., Boston, MA, Very Fine.
Carte De Visite, 2.5" by 4." A printed engraving of Banks, a governor of Massachusetts, who had no prior military experience before being named a major general - and it showed. Perhaps the most inept of all the Union commanders, he was a favorite of the Confederates, who called him "Commissary Banks," due to his tremendous loss of supplies.
