CDV of Union General Samuel Peter Heintzelman by Brady Carte-de-Visite of Union General Samuel Peter Heintzelman, Published by E. & H.T. Anthony from a Negative by Brady, NY, Very Fine. CDV photo of a seated Gen. Heintzelman in uniform, on gilt-ruled card with clipped corner tips. Backstamp by Anthony. Very scarce. Samuel Peter Heintzelman (1805-1880) served in the Seminole War, the Mexican-American War, the Cortina Troubles, and the Civil War. He was wounded at the July 1861 First Battle of Bull Run. Heintzelman commanded the 2nd Michigan Infantry regiment responsible for the raid, ransacking, and devastation of the Pohick Church in Lorton, Virginia, on Nov. 12, 1861, resulting in the loss of a number of irreplaceable artifacts.
