This print is from a copper engraving done by Seth Eastman, a West Point Instructor who spent five years working on a complete cataloging of all the Native American tribes that resided (or had resided) in the United States. This illustration depicts Red Jacket, a Seneca chief best remembered for his oratorical skills. He is perhaps responsible for first calling alcohol "firewater."
