1864 General Orders Regarding the Draft.
A 6.75" x 4.75" 4-page imprint, "General Orders No. 224" dated July 6, 1864, Near Mint. It reprints an act of Congress "to regulate and provide for the enrolling and calling out the national forces, and for other purposes." Two contemporary binding holes to left. Documents such as this were the bureaucratic mainstay for calling up and maintaining the Union Army.
