Gloucester, RI, The Farmers Exchange Bank, $5, Almost Uncirculated. Haxby RI-120-G18. One of the earliest dated American obsolete notes available to collectors. This Perkins Plate specimen is hand dated May 2, 1808. This bank failed by 1809 and touched off a banking and financial crisis across the Northeast due to its large circulation of notes.
