A a Japanese carved wood Kamakura-bori writing box (suzuribako) circa 1920'-1930's. the rectangular lid depicting a mountainous waterside view of figures on a footpath bridge beneath a pavilion and towering pine trees before rocky shaped mountainous and rolling clouds, on an intricately carved ground of stylized blind fretwork on a conforming base of paired fretwork bands, opening to a black lacquer interior. Height: 2", width: 5 1/4", depth: 7 2/8".
