Venice: Simon Galignani, 1590. Folio (290 x 200). With engraved title, 49 text maps, woodcut initials and tailpieces. Later vellum, spine with manuscript title. Condition: binding lightly thumbsoiled, small old label to foot of spine. Provenance: Prince Roland Bonaparte (bookplate). porcacchi's famous "island book" with a interesting provenance. Roland Bonaparte (1858-1924), was the grand nephew of Napoleon and president of the Société de Géographie from 1910 until his death. Phillips, Atlases 3328.
