Handsomely bound in modern half calf over marbled boards by Albert Oldach & Son, spine with red and black lettering labels, raised bands, and gilt tooling. Condition: half-title creased and with some restoration to upper margin, preliminaries with light browning along right margin, intermittent spotting. first edition of chippendale's important director, the most famous of all furniture design plate books. Executed in the style of the great English architecture folios, the furniture designs in Chippendale's Director were painstakingly engraved by Darley and Miller.
