RICHARDSON, George (1736 - 1817) A collection of Ornaments in the Antique Style, Comprised in XXXVII Plates Designed & Engraved by G. Richardson. London: G. Richardson, Arch & Son, 1816. 4to (370 x 280 mm). Aquatint title and 36 aquatint plates of ornamental plasterwork and friezes. Modern half calf over marbled boards, calf lettering label on upper cover. Condition: light discoloration to title, occasional soiling. Richardson, started his career working for John Adam in Edinburgh. He accompanied James Adam on his Grand Tour 1760-1763, and worked in the London office of the firm. In 1765 he set up his own architectural design business using books such as this to generate business and commisions.
